February Beauty Faves…

So for this month there are some products that I am loving and using all the time so I figured I would share with you guys!  I love trying new products out and unless it is truly amazing I rarely stick with the same products especially for my hair!

This is a great volumizing mouse perfect to spray in your hair when it’s wet before you blow-dry.  It is a “no mess” formula and has a nozzle that is configured so you spray it directly on your hair line without getting your hands all sticky!  Found this at Sally’s Beauty Supply.  Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 4.05.42 PM I have tried a bunch of different dry shampoos and in my opinion they are all pretty much the same but at the moment I am using this one and it’s great even with having darker hair!  I found this one at Wal-Mart and its pretty inexpensive I love trying drug store products for your hair because you can go through them pretty quickly I would rather save and spend more on my makeup or shoes 🙂  Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 4.08.16 PM Since the weather was pretty dry and cold I went back to one of my fave lotions that I really only used in the summer but it works great to hydrate your skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.  The scent is Lime Coolada and reminds me of the beach so thats another bonus!Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 4.07.10 PM This Revlon Colorstay is one of my absolute go-to products, I have many other higher end foundations from when I worked at Nordstrom and the lasting power and finish of this product can’t be beat especially for the price!  I love this foundation by itself or mixed with other foundations to create the perfect finish or the perfect color.  I use the normal to dry skin formula in 220 Natural Beige and wear NW 20-NW25 in Mac as a reference.  Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 4.07.35 PM I have been using this Frost and Glow kit for a couple months now and I am in LOVE!  For the price ($6.99 at my NC Target!) you can’t beat it!  I have used it at least three times on myself, my girlfriend Brittany and my sister Kelsey!  The color turns out great and doesn’t look at all orange or brassy and is not so intense so it doesn’t leave any harsh contrasting lines especially in darker hair.  This is so simple to use, you just mix the color and use the gloves that come with the kit to apply the color, I always start in the back and take a small piece of hair and work from the bottom up that way the formula is on the ends the longest allowing a perfect blend near the top of your hair.

After a horrible experience at the salon I can’t believe how easy this was, but if you have never colored your hair before or have heavily colored hair I would deff recommend getting a color consult at a salon you trust with a colorist who is certified in the type of highlighting that you want!

After two sessions with the Revlon and I think it looks so fab! You can deff see the highlighting but it isn’t too harsh and came out beautifully with her darker hair!

Winter essentials…

Tis the season for holiday makeup! These are some of my favorite go-to products especially for the colder winter months.  How gorgeous is this issue of Harper’s Bazaar?! I seriously couldn’t get over it when it came in the mail Kate Hudson looks stunning and its so festive for December!  Most of my beauty products I cycle through year round and get stuck using certain products because its easy or I forget to look and see what else I have.  For me I like a moisturizing foundation because I get much dryer in the winter, and I love a good dark nail polish for the colder months.  It’s so important especially in the winter to keep your skin hydrated, not only will it look and feel better, but it will help your makeup go on much smoother and prevent that dry skin flakey look!

Something else that I think is great to have would be a self tanner that works well with your skin tone.  Personally I love the St. Tropez because you can use a little or really build it up.  In the winter its nice to put a thin layer on so that I don’t look like Casper’s twin sister.  Just remember that less is more in the winter with sunless tanners, I always want to keep layering it on but I have to restrain myself so that I don’t look like tan mom next to my family!

One of my favorite fragrances would have to be Versace Crystal Nior, if you have never smelled this you have to!  It is like no other fragrance I have ever tried, most give me a headache but this is so beautiful.  It’s absolutely perfect for winter because it’s a little darker but just smells so good and you only need a tiny spray to last you all day long.

YSL matt pressed powder is great for the winter
MAC Studio Sculpt foundation
Lately I have been really into gold, these are some of my fave pieces, watch is Guess from my hubby for our anniversary, and the bangle which im obsessed with is House of Harlow from my sisters for my b-day.  I love a statement necklace with a simple sweater, this one is J.Crew from my bestie Alex!
These are some of my must-haves year round, a good dry shampoo, root booster, sunless tanner, spot treatment, a hair doughnut for the perfect huge bun, base and top coats, and a good under eye cream from origins!

There is nothing better than curling up with a good magazine and a cup of tea on a chilly day!
